Wire EDM (Electrical discharge machining) involves cutting conductive electrically conductive material with a fine wire, which is a good process to use on complex geometries of robotic components.
Among the metals that the use of wire EDM deals with include steel, titanium, and copper, which are normally used in manufacturing robotic parts and in making of accurate machines.
Wire EDM is highly precise which can be as tight as +-0.0001 inches and can be used in robotic systems and complex designs.
Wire EDM gives the possibility to cut complex shapes, reducing the amount of material wastage, so the material is cut to give high quality robot parts with complex shapes and finishes.
Wire EDM has a high turnaround time particularly on small batch production and complex designs where prototyping is done faster and production is efficient.
